Land Aan Zee

Community Guidelines

Good agreements make good friends

For a pleasant stay at Land aan Zee, we believe it is important that the agreements are clear. Many things will be obvious or already known, but please read them carefully. If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to admin@landaanzee.org.

Safety

Everyone who is a guest at Land aan Zee is part of the community. Caring for yourself, others and the environment is central to Land aan Zee’s mission. In order to create a pleasant environment where everyone feels safe, we have therefore drawn up ‘Community Guidelines’ that we expect you to respect during the entire period of your stay.

Respect

Being part of a community like Land aan Zee is only possible on the basis of mutual trust. You act ethically and with respect for the other guests and visitors at Land aan Zee. No form of intimidation, exclusion, (verbal, physical or emotional) violence and unwanted, sexual intimacies are tolerated. As a member of this community, you are committed to watching over your personal well-being and that of all other guests, and you also show respect for the place.

Meals and food restrictions

At Land aan Zee we want to raise awareness of the fragility of our planet and our ecosystem and we only offer vegan and a minimum of vegetarian products. We are happy to submit any special dietary requirements (gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.) to the chef before arrival. We will do our utmost, but please do not expect the impossible. We do not charge extra for your wishes.

Helping out during meals

We expect everyone to help out with household chores such as tidying up, helping in the kitchen and washing up for a short time every day. In this way, we can all create a pleasant environment together. The work and working hours are divided in consultation with the managers, taking everyone’s possibilities into account as much as possible.

Sharing is Caring for Land aan Zee retreats

Participants in a Land aan Zee retreat will also be invited to contribute with attention for a short time every day to maintaining and beautifying our beautiful place. This attention exercise (or ‘sharing is caring’) is a symbolic exercise in respect for each other, our environment and for nature. It is also a moment to clear your mind and practice mindfulness.

Responsibility

You are welcome to participate in the activities of Land aan Zee. For everyone’s safety, however, we require that you are of legal age (+18) and are able to take full responsibility for yourself and your health for the period that you stay at Land aan Zee. What Land aan Zee offers is hopefully meaningful to you but is not a replacement for any professional, medical or psychological treatment. We do not have the capacity to accommodate this.

No alcohol consumption

We do not have an alcohol license and we also ask you not to consume alcohol during your stay. All (non-alcoholic) drinks that are for sale will be paid for upon departure. The use of drugs is not permitted at Land aan Zee. All our spaces are non-smoking. Smoking is only permitted outside, in the designated areas on the property.

Waste processing and energy consumption

We ask you to handle the scarce raw materials of our planet with care. Therefore, respect the guidelines regarding waste processing and use water and electricity as efficiently as possible.

Waste water and IBA system

We are not connected to the sewage system here and all waste water is filtered by an IBA with natural bacteria. It is very important not to use toxic substances and only ecological and biodegradable substances and cosmetics! Also, avoid flushing tampons or sanitary towels or anything that does not belong in the toilet at all times, or we have a big problem here.

Digital detox

We would like to invite you to also detox digitally during your stay at Land aan Zee. We ask you to minimize the use of screens (laptop, tablet, phone) and limit it to your room. We like to keep the common areas free of GSM. There is wifi in the center.

Silence

We ask you to disturb others as little as possible with noise and music and to respect the silence where and when requested.

No camping and no pets

It is not allowed to camp on the domain. Pets are not allowed.

Avoiding fire and going off fire alarms

We do not allow candles and incense in the buildings, an accident can happen quickly and if the fire alarm goes off, highly sensitive guests can experience great inconvenience and the fire brigade will be called out. We want to avoid this at all costs.

No shoes

We do not wear shoes inside. In this way we promote homeliness and hygiene in the building. Bring your own slippers or slippers to walk around in the center and in your room. There are garden clogs provided in the closet for those who want to quickly go into the garden or for those who want to go swimming in the swimming pond.

Use of sauna

Land aan Zee has a sauna. Bring your own bathrobe if you want to use the sauna. That saves us a lot of laundry. The towels in your room are not intended for sauna use. There are hammam towels in the sauna that you can deposit in the laundry basket on site after use.

Failure to comply

If we have reasonable grounds to assume that you do not respect the above guidelines or that you abuse medication, drugs or alcohol during the period of your stay, we will ask you to leave Land aan Zee immediately. In that case, there will be no refund for the remaining days of your stay.
